We specialize in alignments.

Why should I get a Wheel Alignment?

The steering wheel is not straight.

The most common cause is the toe not being within specifications, which usually gets knocked out by hitting a pothole or curb. Worn parts can also cause this condition.

The vehicle pulls to one side.

Alignment can be out of specifications by having worn parts such as a defective radial belt or by having bad tires or tires that are not the same size.

The tires have excessive wear.

Uneven tire wear is an indicator the alignment is not within specifications. Wear on the inside edge of the tire is most common. The toe is the most critical of the basic alignment angles. If the toe is out of specifications by as little as an 1/8 inch, the front tires will scuff off rubber almost 8 ft every mile traveled.

Suspension or steering parts have been replaced.

Alignment is needed to be sure specifications are within factory tolerances.

Tires have been replaced.

It is a good idea to have an alignment after replacing your tires. With the high cost of tires today, why take the chance of your alignment being out of range and wearing your new investment sooner than needed!?

Wanting to maximize fuel mileage.

If all four tires are not pointed in the same direction, it's harder for the car to track efficiently. The easier the car rolls or tracks without scuff, the easier it is on the engine and maximizes fuel mileage.

To save money throughout the year

If your tires are toed out of alignment by just .017 in., it's the equivalent of dragging your tires sideways for 102 miles for every 20,000 you drive. That’ll cost you $187.50 a year in wasted gas. It will wear your tires faster, costing you $70 more a year. That's a total of $257.50 per year out of your wallet!

About

Steve and Debbie opened Metcalfe Automotive in July of 1990 on the south side of Muncie. Prior to that Steve worked at a locally well-known alignment shop right out of high school. While studying automotive technology at Ivy Tech, he also spent several years as the lead alignment technician at a local Chevrolet dealership. While at the dealership, Steve gained experience and knowledge and became a GM certified technician, as well as an ASE master and advanced level certified technician. Throughout the years Steve has established credibility by giving vehicles attention to detail and by doing the job right the first time. Providing personal, trustworthy service, quality parts and competitive pricing is why many customers have trusted their automobile needs to Metcalfe Automotive. Henry Ford once said "One mechanic can tighten a bolt as well as another. The greatest difference in mechanics lies in the degree of thoroughness with which they do their work and the logic they use in finding the underlying causes behind the failures they encounter".
